Match Comments:
For our last game of the year we played against a strong Sunbury team in Friday Night Football at the G (Gardner Reserve). The boys came out determined to put in a good show for the large crowd. We managed to improve on our last game against Sunbury by almost 10 goals .
The effort put in by our team to chase, tackle, kick long and stick to our match plan was excellent.
First year players Leon and Liam were fantastic today. Leon took many contested marks and Liam won the ball many times with determined play. Ethan was very good as a ruck and a forward. Mitchell and Caelan continued their good form from last week.
Each player has improved throughout the year and I really hope that you all continue to play footy next year. If you keep on the improving as you have, especially over the last four games, you will enjoy a lot more on field success.

Match Comments:
Today’s game was the highlight of the season. The boys turned up today all fired up to do their best today at Gardner reserve and they had a fantastic one point win against Rolling Meadows.
The Rookies trained very very well on this week and they played how they trained. I am so proud of the improvement in the boys. We were first in for the ball, we ran hard, we kicked long we chased and tackled hard.
There were so many highlights, Jacob O in the centre clearances was fantastic. Beau’s work reading the play so well off half back was great. Jacob M and Rory did so many exciting dashes out of our backline. Leon took some of the best marks of the season. Aaron was a great go to guy in half forward. Ethan and Daniel worked hard in the ruck and forward line and went an some great runs. Harry and Michael were fantastic on ballers. Liam, Joey, John, Craig and James continue to get better and better. Caelan and Mitchell were very hard to beat in defence. Joel, Jordan, Tommy and Hayden provided great contests in our forward line and helped us set up the great win.
The last quarter was very exciting with both teams desperate to win. I am sure many of the parents and supporters enjoyed the win just as much as the players. I am very happy to let everyone know that Caelan is ok and may even be fine to play this Friday.
Boys keep up the great work at training. Always believe in yourself and never give in.
We play our last game of the year at Gardner this Friday. Let’s train hard during the week and make sure it is a good one.
Well Done!!!

Match Comments:
We made our way to Kilmore for a 9am start and the boys sure showed that they were up for the challenge with an excellent first half. Had some near misses gone our way we would have gone in two or three goals up.
We were first in at the ball, placed hard tackles, ran to space and picked up our opponents which was very very pleasing.
We did not keep up the same level of effort in the second half and Kilmore managed to run away with the win.
We’ll try to concentrate on our running fitness for the rest of the year however I think it would be good for the guys to keep up some fitness work over the summer to make sure they have a flying start in 2011.
Guys like Rory, Aaron, Mitchell, Hayden, John, Joel, Craig, Caelan all played their best games for the year. Jacob Beau and Harry all kept up their excellent form for the year.
Well that’s our last away game for the year over and done with guys. Let’s make sure we keep up the good efforts in our last two home matches against Rolling Meadows and Sunbury.

Match Comments:
Our boys played away at Romsey today in blustery conditions. We were pleased with the effort of many of the players today who were in front competing for the ball, however we also fell into some of our bad habits. Romsey player ran down the ground in groups of two three and four players many times without contest from a Gisborne Rookies player.
If we are to improve we need to run more. We need to run to space to provide a target for a team mate. We need to run to lead for the ball, if that does not work we need t o lead again and again and again. Importantly we need to run to man up on our opponents.
Special thanks today for Liam D and Sammi from Under 12 Red for playing for our team. Good today players were Jacob O, Harry, Beau, Jacob M and Daniel.

Match Comments:
Our boys played Woodend today at Sankey in a game where we played very well in patches. One of the most pleasing things about the game was that players such as Daniel, Rory, James, John and Craig all played their best game for the year. All of these guys have really been training very hard and this hard work is starting to pay off during our games. Well done guys.
Jacob, Leon, Beau and Ethan also played very well. We are now starting to take some excellent marks around the ground. Woodend seemed to get the better of us during some passages of play where we fell into some old bad habits like not manning up. For most of the game our boys were attacking the football and putting together some nice plays.
Enjoy your week off guys. Lets’ all get together on Tuesday July 6 to prepare for our last four games of the year.

Match Comments:
Our boys played their first game at Gardner Reserve for the year and they put in an excellent effort against a strong team from Rupo in wet conditions. We did improved so much from our last game and the coaching team and parents were all very proud.
Leon gets better and better each week and played a great game in the backline. Harry was in and under the packs as always. Guys like Liam and Ethan work very hard on the ball. Aaron played in the backline this week and did very well.
In the last quarter our boys a large slice of the play and were rewarded by goals to Thomas and Michael.
Our training has really stepped up over the last few weeks. Our skills are getting better and we are more aware of our opposition. Keep up the good work guys. Well Done!!!!

Match Comments:
We played Melton today at Sankey in a game that showed we have got a great opportunity to improve throughout the rest of the year. I am sure if we improve our discipline at training we will play much better football on the weekend.
I am sure if we all find an opponent when they have the ball we will show an improvement on the scoreboard. I am sure if we stop kicking the ball into the centre corridor when we are in our defensive 50 that we will not have as many goals kicked against us. I am sure that if we run down the ground, sharing the ball in groups of two or three team mates we will kick more goals.
Jacob O played an excellent game when switched into the ruck in the second half. Michael showed once more he is very hard to catch when he tucks the ball under his arm and goes for a run.
Harry tried hard and Liam, Caelan and Leon also tried hard.
Guys sometimes there are games of footy that you play that you don’t win, but you learn a lot. This was one of those games.
We have next week off with a public holiday so we have four training nights to prepare for our game. Let’s all get there and work hard and make sure our next game is much better

Match Comments:
Our boys played at Rolling Meadows this morning in blustery conditions. The team played very well and played some of our best football for the season. We spent more time in attack today that in any other game this year, and we kicked our highest score for the year.
We have been concentrating on our ball handling and disposal skills at training over the last few weeks and we saw this work pay off with several nice passages of play, where we strung together several passes and marks. We were also very pleased to see our players willing run and bounce the ball. Our guys are now trying to handball to a team mate running past after a mark or free kick. We will continue to become a better team if we try these things.
Harry showed the way many times by winning many contested possessions and kicking a goal. Ethan continued his good form this year in the ruck. Leon and Liam are getting better every week. Leon took some nice marks in defence and Liam played very well as an in and under rover.
Daniel, Hayden and Beau are three guys who really put in on the training track. Daniel was rewarded for his efforts by kicking a very nice goal. Hayden is nearly always first in for the ball when it is in each area. He is often rewarded for being in front.
Beau is getting better and better because he works hard on his skills, listens to instructions and runs straight at the ball and tackles hard.
Jordan played his best game for the year.
Guys, each week we are getting better and better both at training and in matches. We need to continue to work hard on our kicking and ball winning. Well done guys!!

Match Comments:
The boys turned up on a chilly Friday night at Woodend with a great attitude before the game. Each player ran onto the field fired up to give their best for the team. For most of the game our determination to get the ball was excellent. We continued to make sure that we picked up an opponent when Woodend had the ball, or run to a space when a Rookies play had the ball.
Our team is now winning a lot of the contests and is improving week by week.
Jacob M and Beau worked very hard in the backline and many times won the ball from their opponent and passed it to a Gisborne team mate.
Ethan, Harry and Joel all won plenty of the ball in the midfield.
Aaron kicked a goal after confidently running about thirty metres and taking a bounce. He also won many contested possessions.
Boys lets continue to get to training and make the most of our time their . We still need to make sure that we practice our kicking and handballing whenever we can.
I am sure we will continue to see improvement on the field if we keep up the excellent attitude from this game.
Well done boys.

Match Comments:
Our boys put in a much improved effort today against Kilmore in perfect conditions today at Sankey. We moved the ball well at times by working together with teamwork. For most of the game our boys kept up their concentration and maintained pressure on our opponents. Jacob O and Michael showed the way for many of the boys by winning many contested possessions in the middle of the ground. Harry went on many nice runs. Leon and Aaron provided our team with good targets up forward. John also played his best game of the year and won many contested possession for the team in the second quarter. Jacob M was also good in defence. One highlight of the day was Jacob ran from the backline when he was shepherded by Harry, he then followed up his kick and ran to the forward line and laid a strong tackle. I was very proud of our boys not getting sucked in by some unsportsmanlike play by their opponents. Well done boys!!.

Match Comments:
The Gisborne boys played their first home game for the year against a strong Romsey side at Sankey Reserve. The scoreboard really did not give a true indication of the game. For much of the first, third and fourth quarters the boys put in a very good effort.
In the second quarter some players in our team did not man up on their opponent. This allowed many Romsey players to run unattended ran down to their forward line in numbers, to kick too many easy goals. We need to make sure that we all pick up our opponent when they opposition team has the ball.
To our credit we did not give in and were much better in the second half. In the second half we picked up out opponents, we were often first in for the ball, we kicked better to our team mates. We also tried things such as handballing to a teammate that was running past. Our talk we also a lot better.
Special mention needs to be made about the efforts of Mitchell and Ryan who played their best games for the year. Beau, Liam, Rory and both Jacob O and Jacob M also were among our better players.
Many boys in our team continue to improve week by week. I am sure if we all get to training this Tuesday that we will play much better against Kilmore next week.

Match Comments:
Today the Gisborne boys played a very strong Subury Loins team at Boardman reserve.
Beau,Eathan,Calean,Jordan & Harry worked very hard in the middle of the ground while players such as Rory,Jacob O ,Michael,Joel,Thomas attacked the football very hard during their times playing in the backline.Jacob M took a very nice mark.Aaron,Craig,James & Leon were always able to provide Gisborne good options up forward.
Daniel,John,Hayden & Mitchell have all been training hard during the week. This is great because we saw today that they continue to get better and better each week.
We still need to make sure that we concentrate though the whole of each quarter. The game was very even for most of each quarter but Sunbury kicked three or four goals at a time in bursts. We need to stop this happening.
Next week we play Romsey at Sankey reserve. This will our first home game of the year. If we continue to train hard and listen to the coach the boys will put on a great display of footy for our home crowd!!!!!!!!!!!
