Match Comments:
Last game of the year and as throughout the season, the Rookies tried their hardest but just came across a stronger side on the day. Luckily, although freezing, the rain held off and there was a gale force breeze blowing down one end. Tom F gave us great drive out of the middle all day, his stamina is amazing. Lachie, Samii & Luke stuck to their guns all day in defence and Riley and John gave us strong forward options with Johnny bagging a couple of goals. Tom Mc & Sam H were tough defenders and Hamish & Aidan were hard at it throughout the game. Good luck to the four boys going to Under 14's next year and we will see the rest of you back in Under 12's Rookies colours in 2011.

Match Comments:
Friday Night Blockbuster at the G (Gardner). Conditions, although a little chilly, were perfect for footy. Unfortunately, the Sunbury bodies were just a bit too big for us on this occasion but our boys toiled away with great endeavour. Liam and Ben were defiant in the backline, Samii & Lachie used their height to advantage & Riley & Tom F were hard as nails in the middle. Cam & Callum E were solid in defence, whilst Ryan & Nathan were good targets across half forward. A very special effort from our Under 10 White boys, Liam Spears, Nash Kemp & Sam Graham who not only helped our team out with numbers but were also highly competitive and not at all out of their depth. Much appreciated boys!!!

Match Comments:
A much improved effort today boys, one of those real team efforts. We got off to a quick start kicking the first couple of goals in strong blustery conditions before Melton South hit back hard with 3 consecutive goals. In the last quarter, we ran all over the opposition but couldn't combat their flooding tactics and went down by 3 points.
Nathan, Ben & Liam won plenty of hard ball, Sam H provided plenty of dash and Luke & Aidan stood tall at opposite ends of the ground. Johnny & Callum J were as tough as nails whilst Tom Mc was a key defender and Hamish gave us drive off the wing. Keep up the good work boys.

Match Comments:
A tough day at the office for the boys but despite only 17 players available, a good effort by the boys. Sunny but cold conditions at Rupo and we were off to a solid start. Tom F put in a great display all day under duress with sore ribs whilst Lachlan and Riley worked well in the air. The dynamic Hudson twins, Luke & Sam along with Matty A got plenty of the ball. Nathan was solid in his first game back from injury whilst Callum J was an important target up forward. Cam & Johnny did all they could in defence but alas Rupo were just too good on the day. Keep working hard at training boys.

Match Comments:
Very rarely could you say it was one of your best games for the year when you don't score but this was the case this week. A miserable wet morning at Sankey and all the players played tough uncomprimising football against their Kilmore opponents all day. A big improvement on the first time we played them. Riley, Lachie, Samii & Karl were all superb in the air and Tom F and Luke gathered many possessions through all four quarters. Jack and Hamish gave us targets up forward whilst Aidan and Tom Mc were strong in defence. Keep playing footy like that boys and another win is just around the corner.

A sunny but cold & windy day out at mcPherson Park and the boys put in a great four quarter effort. Superb defensively against the breeze and attacked remarkably with the wind. It was just a great team effort, close game all day with the Rookies running over Melton Centrals in the final quarter. Ben & Liam held the backline together, Sam & Matt A gave us great avenues in attack whilst Karl & Matt M were driving the ball forward all day. Tom M & Aidan were stalwarts in defence with John, Lachie & Hamish hard at the ball also. Great effort boys, enjoy the weekend off, you deserve it.

Match Comments:
Our first winter weather day of the season had the boys come up against Melton at Sanky. With our numbers limited due to some injures and illness we were supported by Josh, Isaac & Jamie from the our under 10’s team to give us some numbers on the bench (thanks Boy’s) Our backline came under pressure with Melton’s long kicks into their forwarded line. We had some good contributions from Ryan, Matt M, & Liam. Rory had is best game for the season in a good all round display of hard work.
The boys finished off in the last quarter with 3 goals resulting from some good team work and movement of the ball. Further practice of our skills at training will see more of this. Go Rookies!!!

Sunny but windy day at Boardman Reserve and the boys put up a very brave effort. A couple of great goals by Ben & Rory, Connor was superb in the ruck, Samii provided great strength and we got good drive out of Tom F & Sam H. The backline was well led by Tom Mc & John whilst Nathan & Matt M continued to run hard at the ball all day.
Keep working hard at training boys, listen to the coach and a win will be just around the corner.

2 5 17 Lost to Melton South 4 7 31 (Home Game)
Goal Kickers:
Callum Eaton & Aidan Beard
Best Players:
Aidan, Liam, Tom F., Ryan, Karl and Ben
Match Comments:
In great sunny conditions the Rookies started well. They had most of the play in the first half with Liam, Riley and Callum J working hard around the packs. The boys missed a few opportunities after working hard to bring the ball into the forward line, however kept persisting and held a small lead going in at half time. After half time the game became very tight with Melton South starting to have more play in their forward line. There was some great defensive work done by Samii and good around the ground work by Karl and Callum E. After some good contributions the Rookies could not hold off a determined Melton South.

An overcast day with great footy weather and the boys had a real dip this week against Rupo. It was a tight contest all day with the Rookies going down by just 8 points.
Tom F gave us some great drive, both Matty's were hard at it all day, Karl gave us first use of the footy out of the ruck and Riley & Liam mopped up everything that came their way.
The tall timber in Lachie, Callum E & Connor all used their bodies well to create some space. Callum J also kicked a nice goal from full forward.
Great effort boys, keep your heads up and train hard for the next game in a couple of weeks time.

Match Comments:
Made the long trip out to Kilmore today, and what can we say, beaten by a much better team. We may have to work a bit harder on the track boys.
Still, the players tried hard and there were some great efforts put in. Tom F was great first up, Hamish played admirably in a run with role and Luke, Ben, Matty A & Riley all gave their all. Sami & Nathan were both hard at it and Liam & Ryan gave some great drive.
Let's see if we can bounce back in Round 3.

First game of the year at Sankey in bright sunny conditions with the odd shower and the boys start the season with a great win.
Excellent team effort with Tom Mc, Samii, Karl Lachlan & Aidan, the tall timber, giving us first use of the ball. Matt M, Matt A, Nathan, Johhny getting some great hard ball. With Luke, Sam H , Ryan & Hamish potent up front, this helped the scoreboard tick over. Liam, Callum E, Callum J were giving us great drive and Connor, Riley & Rory getting plenty of the footy also. And not forgetting Ben who repelled many attacks in the last quarter.
Special effort to the players who represented Melton Centrals to even up the sides, Luke SamH Ben Rory Hamish Karl Connor & Callum J.
A great effort this week boys, keep working hard, support your team mates and have fun.
