Match Comments:
In a bruising encounter which saw Harry Sullivan stretchered off in the second quarter, Sunbury led 7.4 to 0.0 at half time. I appealed to the boy`s to dig deep and pull out all stops. They responded admirably and restricted Sunbury to 1.2 in the 3rd quarter. The end result of 11.10 to 0.0 didn`t reflect how hard we fought and the fact that we never gave in. Our turnovers hurt us and allowed Sunbury to create the loose man at will.On a brighter note, Harry is ok and is recovering at home, having sustained no major injuries. Thanks boys for fighting it out and never giving in over a difficult game and season. I have seen improvement in all of you.Best of luck boys and thanks to the parents, especially Garry Mc,Kym, Mark Spargo, Mark Testro,Wardy,Deb Sullivan, Melanie Budge and the 2 Kerry`s who have helped out over the season. Good luck for our 6 reps who have gone up to the Red`s for the rest of the season.I`m sure they will do us all proud and continue to work hard on their development opportunity.

Best Players:
Harry Sullivan,Cam McCall, Ryley Bond,Trent Budge, Matt Thomas, Matt Spargo and Linc Doricic.
Match Comments:
With the decision being made to play with 14 players and not take any double agents on board, playing against the South Meltonians 16 and 6 interchange players was always going to be tough going.
Effectively the game was over by half time with the scoreboard showing 8.10 to our 0.0.
The boys fought valiantly in the last half and never gave in. Harry Sullivan and Cam McCall were inspirational,Ryley Bond and Trent Budge repelled countless attacks and Matt Thomas, Matt Spargo and Linc Doricic, battled hard all day.
This week is our last game as the following round is a bye. Let`s get to training boys, continue to work hard on the track and finish off the season on a high note.Training venue to be advised. Please check your emails, Coach.

Match Comments:
Bolstered with 11 players from the Red`s,we went from being potentially smashed to being a chance for a win.In a game where both teams battled hard all day, we were still in the game at half time being only 15 points down.In the last half, our inaccuracy in front of goal and the ease at which the ball was cleared by the opposition, cost us as they converted their opportunities more often.Overall, it was a tough, hard fought contest, which resulted in fearless Matt Thomas being taken off the ground with suspected concussion. On a brighter note,he is ok and recovering at home.Get well soon Matt as we look forward to your return. Thanks to the Red`s boys for helping us out and pushing Kilmore all the way.You guys helped us all walk tall as we continue our improvement.See you at training boys on Tuesday at Sankey as we work hard and strive for our next victory against Melton South.

Match Comments:
The scoreboard in today`s match didn`t reflect the way in which we fought the game out.In the last quarter, the boy`s hung on tenaciously and didn`t allow Rupo to dominate. With only 15 of our own players and 3 double agents from the other team changing each quarter, we were always going to be up against it. Well done boys for matching Rupo in the last quarter and not allowing the wheels to fall off as in previous games. In the first round, Rupo beat us by 92 points. Effectively, we have halved the margin to 49 points. That`s improvement in my view. Keep at it boy`s, we will win again before the seasons over. Training is on in the second week of the holidays. I`ll keep you posted via email.

Match Comments:
Yesterday, in a real nail biter, the U14O's held on to win their first game for the season.
In a see sawing struggle on a boggy Gardiner Reserve, the boys played like men possessed and hung on to win by 2 points in a game resembling a giant mud wrestling championship.
The victory, achieved with only 16 players was one which not only made me proud to be a coach, but also, a game which will remain in my memory for a long time.
This was a great team effort and at one stage in the third quarter, we were down to 15 players due to injury. That player, Cam McCall, showed guts and determination to come back on and inspire his team to win.
Well done boys, overall, it was a great team effort. We can build on this victory now that we BELIEVE in ourselves.
If we maintain yesterday's level of commitment, team work, desperation and never say die attitude, we will win some more games this season.
Round No: 8
Gisborne Rookies
0 2 2 Lost to Sunbury Kangaroos 8 13 61 (Home Game)
Goal Kickers:
Best Players:
Sam Gevergizian,Matt Thomas,Tom Alkemade, Harry Sullivan,Nathan Mills and Linc Doricic
Match Comments:
We started the match with 20 players, having been bolstered with 4 players from the U 12 White`s. In a bruising encounter, Sunbury Kangaroos won 8.13 to our 2 points. The final scoreline did not truly reflect our great effort of not allowing our opponents any latitude and every possession they were made to work hard for. 2 loose players in the backline starved their forwards of opportunities and provided a spring board out of defence. Sammy G, and Tom Alkemade were impassable.Jack McIntyre, Nathan Mills and Harry Sullivan battled hard. Matt Thomas and Linc Doricic continually drove us forward all day.
Keep at it boys!
If we maintain that intensity against other teams for 4 quarters, victory is not far away.
Many thanks to Tom Alkemade,Tom Cassidy, Nathan Mills and Nathan Bush for helping us out.

Goal Kickers:
Jack Weatherall, Matt Testro x 1, Angus Sandilands x 1,
Best Players:
Angus Sandilands, Jack McIntyre, Matt Testro and Jack Weatherall
Match Comments:
Our best first quarter effort saw us leading, by 14 points, at quarter time kicking with the wind! Sunbury came right back into the game with a strong second quarter and saw them lead by 4 points at half time.
In a see-sawing battle, we took the game right up to the oppositiion and were still in it at three quarter time being only 9 points down at the last change. The last quarter saw us failing to score whilst the opposition added 2.6 to win by 27 points.
Round No: 5

Goal Kickers:
Jacob Parfey x 1, Jack Anderson x 1, Ryley Bond x 1, Jack Weatherall x 1, Jack McIntyre x 1, Liam Read x 1
Best Players:
Sam Gevergizian, Cameron McCall, Harry Sullivan, Jack McIntyre, Tim Smith
Match Comments:
Once again, we were off to a slow start. Melton Sth having kicked 6.2 to our 2.4 by half time. Our third quarter was a great team effort as the defence held strong and our on ballers provided the forwards with plenty of chances.
We were still a chance in the last quarter with many opportunities. Melton Sth hung on by 20 points in what was our best game of football this season.
Round No: 4
Gisborne Rookies
2 3 15 Lost to Kilmore 17 7 109 (Away Game)
Goal Kickers:
Zach Borg x 1, Liam Read x 1
Best Players:
Jack Campbell, Lincoln Doricic, Nick Doolan, Harry Sullivan, Ryley Bond and Jack McIntyre.
Match Comments:
Disappointingly, Kilmore jumped us early and for most of the remainder of the game dictated play. At times we moved the ball well into the forward line only to see it rebound back out without converting. Jack Campbell and Nick Doolan were great all day. Lincoln Doricic battled hard as did Harry Sullivan and Ryley Bond. Thankful Harry's injury is only minor and hopefully he will be back this Sunday. Without any interchange players to use, inevitably we tired on the huge Kilmore paddock. We have much to work on during this week's training in order to make us competitive against Melton South at home.
Round No: 3
Gisborne Rookies
1 5 11 Lost to Rupertswood 15 13 103 (Home Game)
Goal Kickers:
Jonathan Weatherill
Best Players:
Alex Grgurvic, Connor Dimasi, Matthew Thomas, Trent Budge and Angus Sandilands
Match Comments:
We started the game with 17 players. Rupo jumped us early and led 4.7 to 1.4 at half time. Our inaccuracy let us down in the forward line. With 16 players in the last half, the score line inevitably blew out. We need to run, chase, do the hard things ie smother, tackle, shepherd and play as a team to make a difference in the future.
Round No: 2

Goal Kickers:
Jack Weatherall 3
Best Players:
Kurt Rosewall
Matthew Thomas
Ryley Bond
Luke Baldassaro
Jack Weatherall
Match Comments:
Woodend's greater desire for the ball, our turnovers and inaccuracy in front of goal saw them leading, 6.2.38 to our 1.3.9 at half time. The second half saw us outscoring Woodend as we started to convert up forward. In a great last quarter and to the 16 boys credit they stuck to the job and did not allow the wheels to fall off. A greatly improved effort!
Round No: 1
Gisborne Rookies
1 0 6 Lost to Sunbury Kangaroos 14 13 97 (Away Game)
Goal Kickers:
McIver x 1
Best Players:
Hoyne, Thomas, Bond and Baldassarro
Match Comments:
The match was played in difficult conditions with a strong crosswind. Sunbury Kangaroo's greater numbers allowed them to dictate terms over the match. Our team battled hard all day and played some good passages of play on football, with players running and assisting each other. Hoyne and Thomas continually drove the ball forward and worked hard around the packs. McIver kicked a great goal in the second quarter. Bond and Baldassaro provided excellent drive. Disappointingly, we tired in the last quarter and the scoreline blew out. This was not a true indication of how hard the 16 players had worked together as a team.
