Match Comments:
Today’s game at Blackwood Reserve against Melton was tough in one of the windiest days this season. The boys got off to a good start in the first quarter and though they struggled to covert they persisted. For the four quarters, the run and carry, and the shepherds and blocks to assist running players were excellent. The boys kept to structure but on the odd occasion were found too far up the ground. Boys, we have to be aware of this. Come finals, it will cost us dearly. I feel on today’s performance, we are running into really good form for the finals. Good effort today guys. Best players: John Stevajna, Jack Rowsell, Brent Elliott, Jack Booth, Jacob Parfrey, Jack Potter, Jack Campbell. Coach Andrew Campbell

1/ Nick Doolan 2/ Jack Booth 3/ Lachlan Thompson 4/ Brodie Hoyne 5/ Conor Dimasi 6/ Jordan Prime
Match Comments:
A great first quarter boys but we lost concentration in the second quarter. We must be disciplined for the whole game, not just one quarter of footy. To your credit as a team you all played well in the second half with lots of run, vision, tackles and long direct kicking. The last quarter you moved the ball from the full back to the full forward in four great kicks. Boys, you must all start to prepare for the remaining games of the season that means early Saturday nights and well rested up. Great game today by Nick; Boothy, Brodie, Cambo, Mitch, Johnny & Brent and players coming into form are Lachy, Alex, Matt and Riley. Let’s get to training early! Coach Andrew Campbell.

  Round No: 12

Goal Kickers:
1 x Jack Rowsell, Jordan Prime & Brodie Hoyne
Best Players:
1/ Jack Campbell 2/ Nick Doolan 3/ Jack Booth 4/ Brent Elliott 5/ John Stevajna 6/ Riley Patterson
Match Comments:
A fairly lacklustre start today boys, before the game we spoke of 3 specific points that we would focus on; manning up, our vision when carrying the ball and full on attack on the ball. We struggled all day to carry out these three points. We agreed to play the top side of the ground; again we struggled to do this. Pressure is what we had to come to terms with today. This game is a timely wake up call to what is ahead of you as a team in the coming weeks. I know you have the skill, desire and hunger to improve your football as a team. Let’s all get to training and work hard as a team for the remaining games of the season. Best Players: Cambo, Nick, Brent, Conor, Riley, Boothy. Coach Andrew Campbell.

Best Players:
1/ Nick Doolan 2/ Jack Anderson 3/ Jack Potter 4/ Jordan Prime 5/ John Stevajna 6/ Jack Booth
Match Comments:
As expected, another high intensity game for four quarters. Our back line performed extremely well under enormous pressure and prevailed. The willingness to man up and identify the loose player dropping back was very pleasing. As a group, the boys keep stepping up to whatever challenge comes their way. Each week there is always a different player who can take on any situation, which just goes to show that the group as a whole is improving every week. Boys, today you really kept to the structure and by the last quarter we had the ability to transfer the ball from full back to full forward with five fantastic possessions and a resulting goal. Fantastic football. Rest up over the break, get yourselves fresh for the last 4 games of the home-and-away season. Best players: Jack Anderson, John Stevajna, Nick Doolan,Jack Booth, Jordan Prime, Brodie Hoyne, Jack Rowsell and Jack Campbell. Coach Andrew Campbell.

Best Players:

Match Comments:
After a week off, we were slow off the blocks, but soon settled to get first use of the ball and make good decisions into our forward fifty. The opposition were hard at it all day and there will be some sore bodies tomorrow amongst our group. Our ability to absorb such physical pressure and continue to play good run-on footy was pleasing. The back half were solid all day except for one or two lapses which we need to work on. The mids and forwards worked well and played an open, run-on style all day. Coach Andrew Campbell

  Round No: 8

Gisborne Rookies   14  15  99  Defeated  Melton Centrals  0  4  4   (Away Game)

Best Players:
1/ Brent Elliott 2/ Lachlan Thompson 3/ Conor Dimasi 4/ John Stevajna 5/ Jack Campbell 6/ Jack Anderson
Match Comments:
As to be expected, there was a howling gale as usual at McPherson Park. We got off to a good start with players backing themselves and attacking the ball from the first bounce. Your ability to make decisions and switch the play with accurate foot skills is improving each week. It was pleasing to see players adapt to new positions when asked to and follow team plays in that position. The on ball players have developed a regular rotation system which we hope will keep them effective for four quarters. Best players: Brent, Johnny, Conor, Lachlie and Ando. Coach Andrew Campbell

  Round No: 7

Gisborne Rookies   18  15  123  Defeated  Melton  0  1  1   (Home Game)

Goal Kickers:
3x Jacob Parfrey 2x Zac Borg, Jack Booth, Linc Doricic, Jono Leidig, Jack Potter 1x William Sultana, Jake Conolan, Brent Elliott, John Stevanja, Matt Wilson
Best Players:
1/ Conor Dimasi 2/ Jake Conolan 3/ Jacob Parfrey 4/ Brent Elliott 5/ Jack Anderson 6/ Nick Doolan
Match Comments:
With a full compliment of players - six on the bench - it was a day of matching like player with like in the rotations. In blustery and muddy conditions, the boys started well and kept to position. The forward line functioned well and kept to their structure. The secon quarter however, players became undisciplined and were out chasing kicks. This was addressed at half time and the boys responded with some well executed plays into our forward fifty resulting in good team goals. The opposition kept at us for four quarters and to our credit we continued with strong football on a wet and greasy ground. Coach Andrew Campbell

  Round No: 6

Gisborne Rookies   9  20  74  Defeated  Sunbury  4  1  25   (Away Game)

Goal Kickers:

Best Players:
1/ Kurt Rosewall 2/ Jake Conolan 3/ Jack Campbell 4/ John Stevanja 5/ Matt Thomas 6/ Jacob Parfrey
Match Comments:
Under trying conditions with very uneven bounce to the ground, you proved once again that you are willing to work extremely hard for each other. With Ben, Brent and Tom replacing the boys who helped out 14 Orange - Will, Boothy, Potsy, Jack Rowsell, Lachie & Hazza - it felt that we still had a strong team to take on Sunbury. After a scrambly first quarter, we began to play disciplined and positional football, gaining momentum and possession of the game. Thanks boys for listening to instructions and carrying them out. Mitch was missed but will be back in full flight leading the team from the bounce. Hopefully Johnno will be back at full foward next week after a back injury. Congratulations to Mitch, Cambo and Binga for making the U13 interleague team. Melton at home next week. We have a lot of work to do...especially on our opposite side. Coach Andrew Campbell

1/ Jack Cambpell 2/ Nick Doolan 3/ Brodie Hoyne 4/ Kurt Rosewall 5/ Jono Leidig 6/ Jack Booth
Match Comments:
A great game of football today guys and a really full on 4 quarter performance. They kept coming at us all day but you never lost focus at any stage. The high marking, long kicking and run on handball game style you are playing is a credit to the hard work you do each week at training. Each and every player contributed to this solid performance. Thanks to Hayden, Johnny and Cameron. And thanks for Jack, Ando, Jacob and Pat for helping the orange team. Today was a great team effort, lets be sure to get to training and keep the work rate up. Coach Andrew Campbell

  Round No: 4

5 x Jono Leidig 4 x Trent Crosbie, Jack Anderson, 3 x Jack Potter 2 x Macauley Haynes, Brodie Hoyne 1 x Alex Grgurovic, Jake Conolan, John Stevanja
Best Players:
1/ Mitch Synnott 2/ John Stevanja 3/ Trent Crosbie 4/ Macauley Haynes 5/ Jono Leidig 6/ Jack Anderson
Match Comments:
It was another consistent effort at Rockbank on Sunday. In very trying and windy conditions, the boys remained focussed and kept to the team rules throughout. It was fantastic to watch their willingness to run hard and carry into the wind. The fact that we ran out the full game has proven that our fitness is on the rise but we must still work on this as we have three challenging games ahead. Our thanks go to Trent, John and Macauley for playing with us this week. And of course, thanks to Cambo, Linc, Nick, Jordy and Zach for helping out the Orange team at Kilmore. Players who worked well for four quarters this week - Mitch, Ando, Johnno, Lochie, Alex G, Brodie and a solid first game for Matty Thomas.

Best Players:
1/ Jack Anderson 2/ Mitch Synnott 3/ Jack Campbell 4/ Jake Conolan 5/ Brodie Hoyne 6/ James Cimbaljevic
Match Comments:
Well boys, they certainly got the jump on us in the first quarter but the fact that you didn’t panic and kept to our structure proved a point to me that you have developed a very strong sense of belief in yourselves and the team. There were many strong performances today for the whole game. We all need to perform for four quarters every week. Thanks to Alex Grgurovic and Conor Dimasi for helping out the Orange team. After three games into the season, have no illusions about the challenges ahead. So let’s work hard on the track and improve on our skills.

Match Comments:
A good effort all round the ground today. There was a lot more pressure applied by the opposition this week, but to the boy’s credit they responded well. There were some terrific efforts with Mitch in the ruck, Conor on the flank and Zac with five goals. The boys took advantage of every opportunity. I was pleased with the players who kept position and were disciplined throughout the game. Another challenge in two weeks, boys. We have much work to do – make sure you’re at training.

A big thank you to Hayden, Alex and Riley for helping us out and a special thank you to Matt, Brodie and Will for assisting the Under 14 Orange team.
