A magnificent effort by every player. The commitment to the game plan and the pressure you applied to the opposition and your overall attack on the football was sensational. Players put their bodies on the line time and time again. We won the game through our one percenters. The tackling, smother, harrassing and pressure put the opposition off their game all day. A thoroughly deserved win and a magnificent season. You were an absolute pleasure to coach. Congratulations to everyone!!! GO ROOKIES !!!!!!!

Jack Baker, James O'Hare, Patrick McKenna
Best Players:

Match Comments:
Well boys today was the day that all the chickens came home to roost. We paid the ultimate price for some slack work on the training track and a lackadaisical attitude. Form is not something you can turn on and off like a light switch, it is something that you work hard to gain and work harder to maintain. We managed to stay in the game for 2 1/2 quarters on ability alone but when Melton South stepped it up we were unable to go with them. Admittedly our structure was all over the shop but this was no excuse as were beaten by a better side on the day.

Match Comments:
Boys, we cannot afford these poor starts due to our attitude - we must be switched on from the start. Having said that, we worked our way back into the game well and in the end it was a solid win against very good opposition. Terrific games from Liam, Tommy, Jack B, JJ, Patty Mc, and Jimmy.

A really tough game today where we had a good hitout against a very good side. Most pleasing was the way we were able to respond when we were challenged and kept our heads under pressure. Every player had a solid contribution. Well done boys.

Match Comments:
Apart from a handful of players today, it was a very ordinary effort. Too many players were just going through the motions and not playing to instruction. We must be more self motivated than that boys. Well done to Liam, Cam, Pat T, Pat Mck, Macca, Ollie, Isaac, Billy and Haydon.

Match Comments:
Our first game in real wet, slippery and wintery conditions. The challenge was to break the shackles and play the game on our terms by taking risks. Even though the conditions were extremely difficult, all players came through with the goods. We put our head over the ball, won the contested footy and we kept our forward line open allowing us to kick goals. Well done boys on an excellent game.

Match Comments:
Hopefully we will use this game as the wake up call that we needed. Sunbury applied great pressure all over the ground for four quarters and in many instances we were found wanting. Our training has been terrible and it showed today in the game. Having said that great games from Jack Baker and Matt Goodyear well supported by Liam, Ben, Brody, Trent, Billy, Jimmy & Tom.

  Round No: 7

Gisborne Rookies   16  8  104  Defeated  Melton South  2  4  16   (Away Game)

Match Comments:
After a slowish first quarter, the question was asked of the boys at quarter time and they responded magnificently. They worked themselves back into the game and kept Melton South scoreless in the second and third quarters. Our third quarter was brilliant with 5.1 against the wind and we finished with a further 5 goals in the last. A magnificent team effort.

Match Comments:
Very consistent 4 quarter effort. The most pleasing part was; what we have been working on at training we were able to implement in the match with precise execution by hand and foot. It was also our best team game with every player contributing. Great game boys, well done.

Best Players:
Patrick Trotta, Billy Chiller, Liam Rodgers, Matthew Goodyear, Jack James, Tom Wood, James O'Hare, Bryce WIlliamson, Macauley Haynes, Alex Guy
Match Comments:
The scoreboard was probably not a true reflection of the game as I thought Woodend's tackling and harrassment was excellent whereas we were well down in these areas. It was not until the last quarter that we were able to get our game going and play the brand of football we are capable of.

A very impressive game. It was not about the win itself, but how we went about winning. Our ball use, decision making and transfer of the footy through the middle was great and we were able to capitalise on the scoreboard. Well done boys on a super effort.

Well done boys on four sustained quarters of relentless pressure football. We ran hard in numbers and always had many options. Our clean skills and open forward line ensured that we were always going to kick a high score.

Match Comments:
Another very good win for the boys in hot conditions. The one percenters in smothering and shepherding were terrific. The forward line didn't function as well as last week but overall a good hitout against good opposition.

Match Comments:
Well done boys - terrific start to the year. Good clean skills and excellent decision making allowed us to control the game from start to finish. Our willingness to share the ball resulted in 14 goal kickers; and even though the opposition flooded our forward line, through terrific discipline, we were able to keep the space open in front of goal resulting in a big win.
